I can’t remember a time that I didn’t want to be outdoors. When I was just 5, my family took our first camping trip and the die was cast.
For me, travel and outdoor activities – especially hiking – go hand-in-hand. I’ve been lucky enough to hike in many states and a few foreign countries. As we’ve traveled, folks have asked my husband and I about our trips, wanting to see photos, tips for their own jaunts, etc.
I realized that there are many helpful blogs, websites, and social media spots about long-distance hikes, endurance events, and extreme adventures, but not too many, if any, for “regular” folks like us. Kind of old, kind of adventurous, but not ready to hike the Appalachian Trail, at least not as through hikers! We also wanted to help not only “over the hill” hikers find valuable information, but hikers wanting information on where to hike with children or easier hikes. After all, it is better to be outside for a few hours and miles, than not at all.
I bring you “over the hill hiker” with hopes that you will enjoy the information about our hikes, equipment suggestions and ideas, and useful information. Please share your own ideas and tips as well.
